Metrology Grade 3D Scanning

Our service is optimised for our clients with a strong focus on reliability & ease of maintenance

With over 60 years of collective experience and efficiency as our main focus, we excel at managing critical equipment for uninterrupted industrial production.

We offer a comprehensive mill package that includes meticulous NDT inspections of key components and strategising predictive and preventive maintenance solutions.

Adept at assessing failure risks, we can formulate recovery plans for vital pieces of equipment. Additionally, we can optimise assets, providing management plans and a list of critical spare parts that can be used should any faults occur.

Our approach

During this process, we create a 3D mesh of the mine site SAG mill gears and pinion teeth using the Handiscan Black Elite, a metrology-grade 3D scanner. We compare the scanned mesh with a CAD model of the analysed component if available.

Once the initial 3D scan has been completed, subsequent scans are compared with the original benchmark for irregularities.

At the conclusion of the scan, our clients are provided with a comprehensive report outlining any issues with their equipment.

Furthermore, the report details recommendations on managing the equipment best to avoid disruptions to service.

OUR DIFFERENCE

GearInspec stands out with our commitment to precision and proactive solutions.

Testing large mill gears for signs of fatigue and wear has traditionally been a time expansive and arduous task. Traditional methods require the gear surfaces to be completely clean and as a result produce large amounts of hydrocarbon waste. There is also no enduring record of the inspection using traditional methods. Gearinspec uses eddy current array instruments and probes that can detect cracks through lubricant and coatings and each scan is stored in the database for historical referencing if necessary

Utilising the Handiscan Black Elite, we deliver unparalleled accuracy in 3D measurement of SAG mill gears and pinions.

Our detailed comparisons against CAD models or standard components can identify wear and damage not detectable using conventional measurement equipment. This enables unprecedented monitoring of the condition of your critical equipment.

Damage and wear can be detected using ultrasonic testing methods which provide early indicators allowing timely preventative measures to be implemented.

By choosing GearInspec, you partner with a company dedicated to precision, reliability, and forward-thinking solutions. Experience the GearInspec difference.
